A handy list of the documents you will need to support you during your visa application.
What documents do I need to apply for a tourist visa?
Please note, if you’re travelling from Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man, the below rules on what you’ll need to enter the UK might be different.
You’ll need a valid passport or travel document to enter the UK. Be sure to check it'll be valid for your whole trip, so you don't have to worry about it later.
You’ll also need to show:
- you’ll leave the UK at the end of your visit
- you’re able to support yourself and anybody else that depends on you (for example, children) during your trip. Or, you could show that you have funding from someone else who is supporting you
- you’re able to pay for your return and onward journey, or have funding from someone else
- you’ll not live in the UK by taking multiple, reoccurring visits, or make the UK your main home
If you’re travelling from any of the countries listed here, due to the risk of tuberculosis (TB), you will need a certificate that proves you don’t have TB.
When providing all of the above documentation, remember to provide certified translations if they’re not in English or Welsh.
