How long does a Child Student visa last in the UK?
How long you can spend in the UK depends on your age when you apply for your visa and the length of your course, as outlined below:
| Age when you apply | How long you can stay |
| Under 16 | Course length (up to 6 years) plus 4 months afterwards |
| 16 or 17 | Course length (up to 3 years) plus 4 months afterwards |
You’ll be able to arrive up to 1 month before your course begins, allowing you to settle in before you start your studies. You can’t travel to the UK any earlier than the start date given on your visa though.
