A handy list of the documents you will need during your visa application.
What documents do I need to provide during my Student visa application?
- Your current passport or another up-to-date travel documentation
- A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your course provider - this is a reference number that will be sent to you

Do I need additional documents if I’m under the age of 18?
You could also be asked to provide one of the following:
- confirmation that you can support yourself and also pay for your course
- a valid Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate - this is only needed if your course is about a sensitive subject area and/or your nationality requires it.
- confirmation of consent from your parents or legal guardian if you’re under 18 and proof of your relationship to them
- your tuberculosis (TB) test results. Not sure if you need to take a TB test? Find out here.
- if you’re receiving financial support for your course fees and cost of living in the last 12 months, you’ll need to provide written consent for your from your financial sponsor.
Are there any other additional documents I should provide?
You could be asked to provide additional documents if your circumstance require them, but don’t worry, you can read the full list of documents you’ll need to provide, here.
Don’t forget, if you’re asked to have your fingerprints scanned and a photograph taken (also called your biometric information) at the application center, remember to check that you have a blank page available in your passport - this is for your visa!
Due to your age, you’ll likely be asked to provide written consent from both of your parents or legal guardians (or one parent if they have sole responsibility). The written consent will need to include:
- Your visa application
- Your living and care arrangements in the UK
- Your travel to the UK
Don’t forget, you’ll need to show your birth certificate or any other government-issued document that has your parents' names on.
