What are the requirements for a Standard Visitor visa as an academic?

Please remember that requirements can vary if you’re travelling from Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man.

What other eligibility requirements will I need as an academic?

As an academic, you’ll need to provide confirmation of a few things during the application process, including:

  • that you’re highly qualified in your field of expertise - this will usually mean you have a PhD or higher
  • that you’re currently working in that field of expertise at an academic institution overseas
  • that you’re not filling a permanent teaching job
