What are the requirements for a Standard Visitor visa as an academic?

What if I’m a senior doctor or dentist?
As an academic, you’ll need to provide confirmation of a few things during the application process, including:
- that you’re highly qualified in your field of expertise - this will usually mean you have a PhD or higher
- that you’re currently working in that field of expertise at an academic institution overseas
- that you’re not filling a permanent teaching job
You will also need to provide proof that you’re visiting to do research or a formal exchange.
