Tourist Short Stay Visa

This is a letter from your Swiss host that confirms the details of you and your stay in Switzerland, including:

• length of your stay
• why you’re visiting
• key personal information such as name, date of birth and nationality

It will need to be in German, French or Italian and will need to be dated and signed by your host.  More information can be found in the SEM factsheet but you will need to request access once you get to the site.

Please note, that you’ll only need to provide this if the Swiss consulate or embassy believes you’re unable to financially support yourself whilst in Switzerland.

If needed, the declaration will need your host to confirm that they’ll pay for uncovered costs up to a maximum of CHF 30,000. Your host will need to sign the declaration and deposit it with the communal authority of their place of residence or with the cantonal migration authority. When applying for a short-stay visa (maximum of 90 days) you’ll need to show that you have sorted travel health insurance that covers costs of up to EUR 30,000. Your insurance policy will need to be with an insurance company that is recognised by the consulate or embassy that is processing your visa application.
