Do I need a student visa to study in the Netherlands?

If you plan to study in the Netherlands for more than 90 days and are from a non-EU/EEA country, you will need a Netherlands Student Visa, known as an MVV (Provisional Residence Permit) and a residence permit for the duration of your studies. The Netherlands is home to many world-class universities and offers a vibrant student experience.

How many types of student visas are there?

There is a general study visa and then 6 other types, these include visas for:

  • enrolling in an Italian university
  • attending a single university course
  • for post-graduate studies
  • taking part in an exchange and mobility program
  • traineeship and apprenticeship
  • vocational training
