How do I apply for a tourist visa?

 To apply for a tourist visa for Italy, you’ll need to follow the steps below. 

1. Prepare all your documents and recent passport-size pictures.
2. Fill in the visa application form.
3. Book an appointment at the competent Italian Embassy, Consulate, or visa application centre in your country of residence. On Visa for Italy, you can find the contact details of the office where you’ll need to apply for the visa. Just select which country you live in and click “Confirm”.
4. Attend the interview in person.

How far in advance can I apply for this visa?

You can submit your application up to 6 months before you’re going to travel. Remember, you can’t apply later than 15 calendar days before your trip. 
This is slightly different for seafarers in the performance of their duties, who can apply up to 9 months before they’re going to travel.
