Tourist Visa
Do I need a visa to travel to Germany as a tourist?
If you’re planning to visit Germany as a tourist, you can check if you’ll need a visa, here. Since Germany is within the Schengen Area, this visa will only allow you to travel to sightsee within the Schengen Area.
No, if you’re an EU national, you won’t need to worry about applying for a visa to visit the Federal Republic of Germany.
You’ll only need to apply for this visa if you’re planning to stay for more than 90 days within the Schengen Area. This means, if you’re travelling to Germany for a 2-week holiday, for example, you won’t need to apply for a tourist visa.
However, if you’re planning to have multiple visits to Germany (or anywhere else in the Schengen Area) within a 180-day period, you’ll need to make sure your total amount of time in the Schengen Area isn’t more than 90 days. So, it’s a good idea to keep count of the days you’re spending there.
If you discover that you’ll be in the Schengen Area for more than 90 days, don’t forget that you’ll need to apply for a visa.
