A useful list of what documents you'll need during your visa application.
What supporting documents will I need for this visa?
You’ll need some specific documents when you’re applying for a German Airport Transit Visa. Make sure you have each of these documents ready.
- The completed visa application form (in English or German only), as well as declarations duly signed.
- 2 passport photographs.
- A passport that’ll be valid for at least 3 more months after your journey through Germany. Double check that your passport isn’t more than 10 years old or damaged, and that it has a blank page for your visa sticker.
- An A4-size copy of your passport’s data page.
- The confirmed airline ticket for your final destination, along with a copy of this.
- Declaration of accuracy.
- A copy of the valid visa/residence permit for your final destination, if you need one.
- Your driving licence and/or a utility bill in your name, to show proof of residence.
As well as these, you’ll need some documents that are specific to your individual situation.

If you're a minor child...
If you’re employed, you’ll need a letter from your employer. It’ll need to be the original letter signed with blue ink, and it should confirm:
- your employment
- the beginning of your employment
- your monthly salary
- the beginning of vacation and resumption of work
If you’re self-employed, you’ll need a Biz-File issued by ACRA.
If you’re a student, you’ll need a letter from your university. Just make sure it’s the original, signed with blue ink.
If you’re a dependant spouse without your own income, you need a letter from your spouse’s employer. This will confirm details of their employment, like start date and monthly salary. You’ll also need your marriage certificate.
If you’re a minor child, or are applying on behalf of one, you’ll need a birth certificate, school letter and marriage certificate of parents (originals with one copy). And it’s worth noting that both parents will have to sign the application form personally at the Embassy.
